Tonight marks the final show in a series of gigs F1 Sound Company Limited has been supporting with Mitch Winehouse. This Monday marked the one year anniversary of the death of his daughter Amy, and since then Mitch has done his utmost to keep her memory alive and turn his grief into positive action by starting up the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
‘I have been singing since I was a young man' says Mitch. 'It has definitely helped me come through such a terrible time. It is also another part of fundraising for me.’ The Amy Winehouse Foundation was set up to provide care and support for young people and since being established it has raised over £650,000 for disadvantaged youths.
F1 Sound Company have been running Funktion One R1.5s and 118s in Raffles on Kings Road for the last 4 weeks and our sound engineer Adam Smith has been running FOH and Monitors through the Allen and Heath iLive iPad application.
Due to space constraints and the requirement to keep a super low profile the ideal solution was the iPad mixing system, where the actual work is done in a 16x8 mix rack on stage. Once Adam had built the show on his laptop and set up custom pages on the iPad, navigating during the show was easy.
The Funktion One Resolution 1.5s are so smooth they are ideal for this small jazz show and easy to pull in and out each week. Run bi-amp from an FFA 6004 with another 6004 for monitor duties and a 10000 running the subs, gently, the system proved slick and sounded fantastic every night.
